Learnings from the 1st week

Learnings from the 1st week of the Trip:

• A 1 MW 70 foot diameter wind turbine, has a blade tip velocity greater than Rajdhani express.
• Offshore Wind is one of the next big opportunities. However the technology has not yet been proven on a commercial scale.
• Utility scale Solar Thermal power generation is at least 5 years away in India.
• IISC Bangalore is planning to setup a 10MW Solar Thermal plant in Bangalore.
• IIT Bombay is targeting a 1 MW plant in the same space.
• Mumbai is hot and sticky, so always have a bottle of water nearby.
• "Paradise" on earth can be dangerous. :-)
